Home renovation is usually focused on the furniture and their accessories but window replacement should also be a priority. Despite the beautifying aesthetic purpose, they serve, windows help you regulate your house temperature and shield you from the harsher degrees of the weather. However, due to the assumed familiarity with their presence, most people don’t really think of replacing their windows until something major happens -like a big crack or a smash through the window. If you were not aware, these are five signs that your house windows should be replaced.

Drafty air

When it starts feeling chilly indoors, you might want you to check out the condition of your windows. An easy way to know this is when your electricity bill shows more heating use than normal. The caulk around the frame may be getting loose and letting more air in, or the glass may be thinning with wear and unable to keep as much air out as it should have. When you notice either of these, that’s a sure sign for replacement.

Leaking windows

Wet splotches around your window frame? You don’t need a crystal ball to tell you it’s time to take the windows out. While fixing the cause for the leak can be a corrective measure, you can save costs by simply replacing them for sturdier options. There are several reasons for which your window could be leaking but replacing answers all your worries at once, and gives you more years without the expense.

Open-close exercise?

If opening your windows, or shutting them, feels like a bicep-building exercise then the frame is most likely getting rusted and age has begun to tell in the stiffness. It doesn’t have to be all your windows that show this stiffness before you take them out, as long as they came in together, it’s only right that they leave together.

Expecting/ surviving harsh weather

Getting through a terrible hurricane storm is a feat worth celebrating, by retiring the windows that held you through. While they may still be good for a few months or years, it is simply best to replace them than bear the cost of repairs constantly. Also, when expecting harsh seasons, like winter, you can replace your windows as part of your home prep for the weather.

Cracks in the pane

Do routine checks of your house windows and when you notice cracks in the glass pane, that’s an urgent notice for replacement -don’t wait till all your house windows begin to fall apart.

Being aware and cautious of these signs can save you the extra cost of fixing damages by simply replacing your windows when due!
